Right now, though, he feels badly about the woman he scared. He wants to help her feel better. And so he smiles again, however small and wistful it might seem. Hiyori has no real compunctions about wasting food—goodness knows he grew up with enough money for it not to be an issue. And he's always been leery about being drugged, but...
He reaches for one of the snacks anyway—some kind of dried fruit—and takes a piece between his fingers.]

[That's normally the sort of thing he'd bug someone else to do for him. But for her sake, he pops it into his mouth. It does no good to be afraid of everything either, including food and drink. He doesn't want that for her or for himself, and in the worst case scenario, he'll just call Jun or deal with the suit flare-up himself.

( that's all she can really say in the midst of all of her distressed feelings and sense of anxiety from such revelations. she wasn't sure what kind of person he really was— he could have been acting for all she knew and given she wasn't the best judge of character, he could easily trick her. yet she knew that in the middle of all of this was clearly a hurt person dealing with the loss of someone they cared about.
truthfully if such a thing happened to her, she probably couldn't even crawl out of bed. still she appreciated him and reached for a piece of the fruit herself, holding it in her fingers before looking up at him. )

[You can't tell when something is spiked from looking at it, sadly. The best way to tell is to hang back and watch someone else consume the food first and see if they start looking or acting strange, in his experience. But there's no real way to tell that in this sort of environment. It's simply too dark—and if some of the people at nearby tables are all over each other, does that really suggest the food is spiked, or is that simply how the resort works?
They can't afford to worry about it too much. Otherwise they'd be worrying all the time, when there's already so much else to occupy their concerns. If worst comes to worst, he can always leave and try to take care of things privately. Or find his partner. That's what Jun is there for. Well, that and other stuff.

It doesn't matter at this point. What's done is done. Leo is gone, turned to stone somewhere, and the same fate could befall either one of them. All they can do now is try to support each other as best they can. That's all any of them can do, in this awful place.]
